Paralegal
ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT
Assist legal team with research, investigation, document retrieval, and drafting of legal documents, regulatory filings, and response to member complaints. Also responsible for all aspects of legal processing, including but not limited to, member requests, subpoenas and third-party requests for information and documentation.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for a variety of duties in support of legal and compliance functions, including contracts, research, and general corporate legal matters. You will be responsible for providing support to our company’s legal department, such as drafting and reviewing legal documents, conducting legal research, and handling other duties as assigned.
- Prepares, drafts and reviews legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, and responses to discovery requests.
- Prepares and organizes document production, exhibits, and affidavits for legal matters.
- Drafts regulatory documents for filing such as Articles and Bylaw amendments, applications for field of membership changes and applications for merger/acquisition.
- Research, investigate and compile information/documentation for litigation and lawsuits.
- Prepares and drafts Board Reports.
- Research, investigate and draft written response to member complaints.
- Processes third party request for information and documentation.
- Processes third party levy/garnishments as backup support.
- Leads the processing of subpoenas and court orders for member records.
- Communicates with third parties, vendors, outside attorneys, the IRS, and members.
- Process member’s request for information and documentation.
- Assists other departments with requests for letters, documentation, and information.
- Scans and files correspondence and documentation into the legal file.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Either Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of related paralegal experience is required.
- Minimum of 5 years legal experience, financial institution or corporate experience preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- 5 years of paralegal experience is required.
- 5 years of experience in a financial institution is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of federal and state laws
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

- Experience dealing with records management and legal documents preferred.
- Computer literacy with experience in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Previous experience as a paralegal or legal assistant is preferred.

- Ability to handle confidential information.
CERTIFICATIONS
- Legal Assistant/Paralegal certification preferred.
