The Estimator will partner closely with Engineers, Product Managers, Sales specialists, suppliers, and other business areas as required to assist in the preparation of cost estimates for each specified proposal scope of work. Coordinating amongst various departments requires this individual to utilize effective time management skills to provide accurate and timely information to the appropriate business unit.
Assist with the preparation of proposal contract material cost estimates and pricing for boiler and environmental equipment.
Work from drawings, specifications, supplier quotations, engineering standards, estimating data/programs/databases, pervious similar estimates, and other information to assist in the development of estimates.
Utilize appropriate estimating tools, (i.e. established templates, data bases for quotes and costing), to build up estimates from quoted or estimated components.
Obtain firm quotes for equipment, fabrication, materials, and components from suppliers, or through corporate purchasing group.
Develop various project estimates including material costs, person-hours, purchased goods, freight and service costs, engineering and project management costs, commercial and other appropriate costs as required for cost tabulations and price approval requests.
Work with Proposal and Project Management, Accounting, Purchasing, Scheduling, Construction, and other functions on details, quantities/weights and specifics of scope and cost estimates.
Function as a member of the proposal team.
Participate in cost review meetings and pricing approval meetings.
Complete change control estimates to capture financial adjustments to the project.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Associates degree required
1-2 years experience in Estimating, or equivalent experience in Technical Design, Engineering, Purchasing and/or related functions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to read drawings
Familiar with Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
A working knowledge of B&W boilers, environmental equipment standards, manufacturing procedures, and construction techniques are recommended.
