Staff Physicians perform clinical responsibilities in the following areas at ZSFG:
Family Health Center (FHC): The full scope of primary care services for children, adolescents, adults, elderly, and homebound patients, with special clinic sessions dedicated to women and infants care, minor procedures, substance use disorder treatment, teen and young adult care, family-based HIV care, and comprehensive diabetes and hypertension care.
Family Medicine Inpatient Service (FMIS): The Family Medicine Inpatient Service provides acute inpatient care to adults. The FMIS medical staff is made up of four intern residents, four senior residents, one chief resident and two attending physicians. The team provides care for acute illnesses, as well as complications from chronic diseases. Patients are admitted from the FHC, SFGH Emergency Department, the Primary Care Network Clinics of the San Francisco Department of Public Health (DPH), and the San Francisco Community Consortium Clinics. FMIS collaborates with medical and surgical consultative services in co-management of complex patients, and in development of innovative educational and quality improvement programs. The FMIS sees an average of 18-20 patients each day, with 1,366 patients treated each year.
Responsibilities may include part-time, as needed fixed or variable schedules consisting of half day sessions of direct patient care; coaching, mentoring, and administrative responsibilities at the FHC.
Rotations in the FMIS include day and/or swing (evening) attending shifts, including active participation in Inpatient faculty meetings and the following activities:
Direct patient care including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and referral or consultation as appropriate;
Consultation and supervision of care provided by residents;
Consultation with nursing staff on the assessment and care of patients;
Interfacing with the Charge Nurse to discuss and manage operational issues related to patient flow and workflow; and
Timely and appropriate documentation of services provided to patients to ensure appropriate recognition of your clinical efforts.
Limited Staff Physicians (10-40% variable FTE) are appointed to one-year annual appointments ending June 30th of each year. Appointments are subject to annual renewal. Final job descriptions will be determined at the time of hire.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Prior experience as a physician at UCSF, familiar with processes for medical records, Epic, Apex, and billing.
Training and experience in Family Medicine
Must be certified (or board eligible) by the American Board of Family Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Medicine, or AOBFM.
Must have (or be eligible for) a valid California medical license as determined by the Medical Board of California (MDs) and Osteopathic Medical Board (DOs).
Prior experience and commitment to working with underserved populations, racially and ethnically diverse patients and staff is essential.
Commitment to using an antiracist/anti-oppressive framework and lens to patient care, education, teaching, and advocacy.
Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license with a California address.
