Under direction, plans, organizes and coordinates a variety of recreational activities at an assigned facility. May serve in a leadership capacity, directing the work of subordinates. Performs other duties and facility assignments as required.

Examples of Duties
Plan, organize and conduct recreation activities including games, sports, crafts, special events, contests, tournaments and other related activities at a playground or park.
Supervise the issuance, use, care and maintenance of recreation supplies and equipment.
Coordinate and instruct new and original games, sports and cultural activities.
May work as a sports official.
Maintain records and reports.
Maintain care and maintenance of assigned equipment.
Attend regular staff meetings and trainings.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Performs registration and point-of-sale transactions.
May perform physical setup and takedown of tables, chairs, P. A. systems, other facility and special event equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed outdoors, on-site in a variety of recreational settings, such as a golf course, sports complex, community center, day camp, and/or playground environment. Some work may be performed in an office environment and in a variety of field trip locations. Office work requires sitting for periods of time and the use of a computer keyboard and screen. An incumbent drives a vehicle on City business, will be exposed to the elements and sits, stands, walks, kneels, crouches, twists, climbs steps and sloping surfaces, reaches, bends, crawls and grasps and may walk or run on slippery and uneven surfaces, push, pull drag, lift and carry supplies and program equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and lift equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds from waist to overhead. An incumbent performs emergency CPR and first aid and may be exposed to the blood and other bodily fluids of program participants. Depending on the area assigned an incumbent may also be exposed to dust and odors. An incumbent must be able to meet the physical requirements of the class and have mobility, vision, hearing, and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way to obtain these would be: Six months paid or volunteer experience working with children, and/or sports, crafts, and officiating is desired. Must have valid CPR, First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certificates or obtain certificates prior to first day of employment.
