About being our Urban Planner Intern
As an Urban Planner Intern, you will be able to apply what you are learning in college and be hands on as you assist in development projects across Southern California, applying land use policies and the preparation of land use entitlements with local government entities.
Must be available to work between 15 and 20 hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications to be our Urban Planner Intern
Assist the Planners as needed with the following tasks:
- Conducting research tasks (including telephone research with local, State, and federal agencies) as well as internet research
- Drafting summaries of technical reports
- Assisting with the production and distribution of documents and government applications
- Assisting with the preparation of Notices and with public meeting preparation
- Assisting in the preparation of proposals and in conducting research for marketing
- Driving to file/post notices, conduct research, and/or deliver documents
Minimum Qualifications to be our Urban Planner Intern
- Must be a 4th year college/university student or working on a graduate degree in Planning, Policy, Environmental Sciences or related field
- We will only consider local candidates
- Must have an understanding of land planning, preferably with direct coursework or real-world experience
- Availability to work in the Psomas office 10-16 hours per week during the school year starting in April 2023 and 30-40 hours per week during the summer
- Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work in our office to experience a collaborative team environment
- Knowledge in computer software utilized in the planning industry and proficient in MS Office Suite
- Driving may be required and must be able to meet company driving requirements
