POSITION SUMMARY
In this senior sales role, the Business Development Manager is responsible to drive expansion within the alternative fuel and renewable energy markets. Leverage existing and emerging portfolio solutions to assist fleets as they build decarbonization strategies, incorporating U.S. Gain’s ability to supply fuel, build/operate/maintain fueling and charging stations, manage credit generation and optimize emissions management processes. Position U.S. Gain as subject matter experts on the environmental and economic benefits of transitioning shippers and carriers to alternative fuels, providing guidance, support and tools to expedite deployment and expansion. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for the entire sales cycle, from lead generation to implementation. They will also be responsible for customer satisfaction and retention of existing business.
This role will be a key member of U.S. Gain’s business development team and be responsible for generating qualified leads within target market segments, collaborating with internal stakeholders and executing U.S. Gain’s sales strategy through closing.
Primary territory will be Southern California with expansion through the Southwest and Southeast United States. The ideal candidate will work remote and be located in California (Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco or Sacramento areas).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop sales and marketing strategies within target markets in collaboration with Director of Sales, Director of Marketing, and the U.S. Gain Business Development Team
- Responsible for prospecting sustainably focused shippers and carriers in the medium and heavy duty vehicle markets
- Develop sales territory to meet and exceed profitability goals as defined by the strategic plan, annual sales budget, and desired levels of market penetration for overall volume, margin, and product line.
- Manage and submit RFI, RFP and RFQ from prospective customers
- Manage a sales pipeline within salesforce.com, providing accurate and timely information and updates
- Maintain outstanding levels of customer service
- Provide marketing and promotional designs to expand sales
- Assess and monitor competition in territory while identifying potential opportunities and strategies to improve our service offering.
- Travel to customer locations to sell products and services, establish relationships and solve problems
- Determine customer requirements for new products and services, and introduce new products to current customers
- Develop additional and new profitable business in specified markets, territories, and/or customer segments through calls and meetings set with prospective customers.
- Maintain and in-depth knowledge of company products
- Mentor, develop and assist in the training of fellow team members
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in related field (Business, Accounting, Economics, or Financial Management a plus)
- 5+ years of related successful industry sales or customer service experience and demonstrated profitability
- Strong knowledge and experience of one or more of the following industries: alternative fuel vehicle technology and infrastructure, Renewable Natural Gas, Compressed Natural Gas, Battery Electric Vehicles, Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles, Medium and Heavy-Duty Fleets and Logistics
- Ability and drive to build a network of prospects and strategic relationships and close complex sales offerings through a strategic and consultative sales process, with a focus on fleet TCO, ROI and emissions reduction benefits
- Driven with entrepreneurial and innovative mindset
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as a member of a high-performance team providing timely and progressive business solutions
- Strong analytical decision-making skills
- Sound business acumen and financial performance knowledge
- Excellent communication skills at all levels of an organization to include roles within C-suite, Sustainability, Fleet Managers, Logistics and Procurement
- Ability to think strategically and translate a vision into a solid measurable marketing/sales program
- Ability to communicate and build relationships/work with internal cross functional teams including Legal, Engineering, IT, Finance/Accounting, etc.
- Demonstrated high level of proficiency in the business and customer landscape and strong process excellence and performance management skills, the ideal candidates will possess a balance of quantitative/qualitative problem-solving skills, a sharp strategic mindset grounded in insights and excellent written and oral communications and focus on driving financial impact
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record and a willingness to travel
