TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
OPTION I: A Certificate of Registration* as a Fire Protection Engineer - AND - One year's professional** fire protection engineering experience.
OPTION II: Graduation from an accredited college*** with specialization in civil engineering, fire protection engineering, fire protection administration or fire technology related field - AND - Two years experience performing professional** fire protection engineering work.
OPTION III: Two years experience at the level of Los Angeles County Fire Prevention Engineering Assistant II****.
LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

****Experience at the level of Los Angeles County Fire Prevention Engineering Assistant II refers to under general supervision, performs professional** fire protection engineering work involving review and approval of complex construction plans (e.g., Complex construction plans include large public assemblages, large Business (B), Factory (F), Storage (S), Mercantile (M), Institutional (I) and H-Occupancies, and high rises), fire alarm and/or sprinkler plans, and inspection of building sites for compliance with fire protection codes and regulations.

PHYSICAL CLASS III:

ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION:
The names of candidates receiving a passing grade on the examination will be placed on the eligible list in order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of promulgation.
SPECIAL INFORMATION:

Candidates who are extended a conditional offer of employment will be required to complete a background check, including a review of any criminal convictions, which requires a fingerprint scan. A candidate with a conviction history which has a direct and adverse relationship with the duties of the Supervising Fire Prevention Engineering Assistant position may undergo the process for his/her conditional offer of employment to be rescinded. In addition, candidates must successfully complete a medical examination and be able to perform all of the essential functions of the Supervising Fire Prevention Engineering Assistant classification. A candidate who does not successfully complete a medical examination or is unable to perform all of the essential functions of the Supervising Fire Prevention Engineering Assistant classification may have his or her conditional offer of employment rescinded and be removed from the certification list pursuant to Civil Service Rule 6.04.
