UCLA TIES for Families is an interdisciplinary program (funded by public funding streams and private foundsations) that support the growth and development of children in foster care and adoption. Primary duties include:
Providing direct services to children with the most complex education needs from birth to age 21
Providing consultation and training regarding the mental health impact of the educational needs of children with special needs
Guiding educational rights holders, legal representatives, and other associated persons on issues related to the child’s I
ndividualized Education Plans and Individual Program Plans
Assisting in evaluating and selecting educational services and programs appropriate to clients needs
Providing accurate and timely documentation of services in accordance with the DMH standards
Other duties as assigned
Salary range: $29.41/hr - $58.14/hr
Job Qualifications

Required: Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated proficiency, possess extensive knowledge and experience in working with youth at risk and their parents/caregivers in addressing their educational, functional, transition and mental health needs. Minimum of 3 years experience working as a specialist in the field of children and youth with disabilities, behavioral, and/or mental health challenges. In depth knowledge of legal terms/processing and teaching of children and youth with disabilities, behavioral, and/or mental health challenges. Extensive experience in working with a culturally diverse population of children and families. Experience in consulting with professionals in the community.
Preferred: Law Degree and/or Master’s degree, and/or teaching credential. Minimum 1 year experience working with foster and adoptive families of children, with histories of child abuse and neglect, out-of-home placements, prenatal substance exposure, and mental health problems experience in providing workshops and in-service presentations to parents, interdisciplinary teams, community professionals, and interested parties.
