POSITION PROFILE
A Finish/Paint Technician must work to obtain the highest production and best quality from the paint lines at the East Greenville facility. The technician ensures that the main objective of the Paint Team is to satisfy the customer with a high-quality product delivered in a timely and cost competitive manner. It is expected that the technician will take ownership for decisions made in the paint room, problem solve, seek and lead Continuous Improvement, and direct those working in the paint room as appropriate. All work must be completed with a high regard for safety of others and oneself. This position requires a self-directed individual to support a variety of paint lines and processes and communicate through developed process standards, standardized work, data collection, equipment set up, AM/PM, new product/paint development, and cost improvement. This position will report to Operations while following direction from Manufacturing and Quality Engineering.
Essential Functions:
Actively participates in MKPS improvement activities within current department or other departments
Determine best way to hang parts for optimal paint coverage.
Ensure hoppers are filled with powder and team properly performs color changes.
In a respectful manner, communicates needed information to other team members
Know, practice, and monitor quality requirements according to specified quality criteria and according to audit plan throughout the paint system and react accordingly. Download and transfer quality data for analysis.
Ensures pre-treatment/wash system is properly maintained and monitored.
Perform some preventative maintenance tasks and record results in Maximo.
Possesses a positive attitude toward other employees and a positive work ethic.
Provide direction and technical assistance to team members.
Provides positive leadership to others with his/her example.
Read instructions, manuals, and other written information to troubleshoot and repair spray equipment
Maintain inventory and cost controls of equipment spares, tools, and inventory parts.
Set up and control automatics.
Takes ownership for the department’s overall performance.
The use of a respirator is required for some essential job functions.
Calculate amounts and pull powder paint to place in "free" spaces per production needs from scheduling department.
Manage and order inventory of touchup paints.
Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
Collect data on color changes, downtime, scrap powder, coat thickness and other needed data to update the powder usage and Quality data files

Required Skills
Verbal and written communication skills
Computer skills – Microsoft Office suite (Office365, Outlook, Excel, Word), Oracle/EBS- JDE
Knowledge of manufacturing operations, equipment setup with AM/PM, paint processes, and other related functions
Knowledge of fundamental Safety principles up to and including OSHA, NFPA, and EPA regulations for an industrial work environment
Time management, multi-tasking, and scheduling skills
Ability to write reports, maintain and file records
Ability to write work instructions utilizing current manufacturing standards up to and including utilizing TWI (Training Within Industry)
Some lean manufacturing knowledge & implementation
Knowledge of ISO 14001/9001 required
The use of a respirator is required for some essential job functions.

Required Experience
The recipient of a high school diploma or its equivalent. Competent in basic math skills, such as adding and subtracting. Ability to read manuals, instructions and measuring equipment.
Ability to read, understands, communicate, and interpret written and verbal instructions, work documentation practices, etc., which are written in the English language.
Basic computer and analytical skills including use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PPt., Outlook, Teams)
Able to work cooperatively with all team members to meet team goals. Willing to adapt to continually changing environment.
Committed to team success through consistent and reliable attendance. The desire to take ownership for the department’s overall performance.
Proven ability to effectively communicate with others. Ability and desire to learn finishing technology.

Powder or liquid paint experience is a plus but not required.
Ability to read instructions, manuals, and other written information. Excellent past performance and safety record required.
Willingness and ability to work with paint products. Electronic and pneumatic experience is helpful.
