The Director, Head of Index Methodology Change Research, is responsible for supporting existing indexes to maintain competitive positioning and help drive overall growth in assets of tracking products.
- Responsible for methodology changes for the research team. This includes:
- creating alternative processes and rules to modify indexes,
- updating or re-writing index models to accommodate proposed changes,
- backtesting,
- vetting different data inputs,
- making suggested changes to methodology verbiage, and
- supporting maintenance of technical specification documents.
- Prepare and present standard and customized methodology change research analysis, including comparative index and product performance analyses, index back-tests, and other reports to existing clients and internal teams.
- Analyze and interpret a wide range of financial and statistical data from a variety of vendor and internal databases.
- Work with other parts of the research team and sales on product retention through methodology change research.
- Manage a team of analysts in the same function. Will report directly to global head of index research.
- Be the point person on the index research team supporting existing clients on methodology change research.
- Develop design briefs for modifying existing indexes (including specifications, methodology documents and models) to present a clear, focused concept for strategic consideration.
- Consolidate customer and internal requests.
- Manage the pipeline and prioritization of methodology changes for the research team. Coordinate with the global head of index research and product management.
- Have knowledge of the competitive landscape and the trends in the business.
- Commensurate experience (at least 7 years) and/or Degree qualified in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Finance or related subject area.
- Proficiency in R, SQL, Python, AWS, Databricks, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong writing and analytical skills with sharp attention to detail.
- Deep understanding of exchange-traded funds, financial products, and other investment products in both the passive and active space.
- Client relationship management experience and ability to manage expectations and timelines.
- Excellent presentation and speaking skills.
- Position to be located in New York City. Alternate location is Rockville, MD.

The base pay range for this role is $130,400 - $217,300. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, experience, education/training, business needs and market demands.
