Home Development Internship 

Hourly Role: $20.00 an hour

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Temporary Six Week Assignment 

The Role

As an intern, you will gain experience in the home development process of new homes at the Shea Homes Southern California division office in Irvine, CA.  This opportunity will provide exposure to a variety of departments that coordinate with each other in the home development cycle.  These departments may include Land Acquisition, Community Development (Forward Planning), Offsite Construction, and Onsite Construction.  

During the internship, you will collaborate with the Shea Homes leadership team and be assigned to work on different projects focused on one or more of the areas listed above.  You will have the opportunity to shadow people in key roles in the home development process, attend key meetings involving the design and project management of different new home communities in Southern California.

Your Qualifications

Qualified candidates are ideally enrolled in an undergraduate Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Real Estate Development, or a related program.  Prior home development or construction-related internships or work experience is beneficial, but not required.

The ideal candidate would have:

·         The desire to expand their base knowledge of new home development and gain exposure to new areas of the business

·         The ability to quickly pick up new skills

·         Proficiency with various technology (computer, tablet, MS suite)

·         Effective verbal and written communication skills
