The World of Warcraft team is looking for a talented Associate Game Director with phenomenal communication skills, proven leadership experience, a strong design background, and a track record of shipping AAA games. Your quest will be to help shape the future of World of Warcraft. You’ll help lead the charge for a highly talented team to continuously strive to make the best experience possible.

Experience driving and communicating a clear vision in a highly collaborative environment, managing and mentoring creative designers, and being a true partner to Engineering, Art, Audio, and Production is essential.

World of Warcraft has evolved and expanded to encompass multiple parallel projects to deliver a continuous stream of new and exciting experiences for our diverse playerbase, from the epic Worldsoul Saga to whimsical diversions like Plunderstorm and WoW Remix. The role of Associate Game Director is responsible for the vision and execution of one of those development pipelines, with a pivotal role in shaping the future of the game.

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The home studio for this role is Irvine, California.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with the Game Director and team leadership to set the overall vision and direction for World of Warcraft
• Direct the design team in creating epic game experiences
• Collaborate with Art, Audio, Engineering, Production, Product Management, Quality Assurance, and other partner teams to execute a compelling game vision
• Maintain an awareness of the state of the game and community feedback to help influence direction and prioritization
• Establish and maintain a creative environment, resolve personnel challenges, and foster a culture of success
• Coach and guide design leaders toward achieving their career goals

Requirements:

• Deep understanding of the history of WoW design and player experience, and a passion for evolving the game as it enters its third decade
• 8+ years of design experience with multiple shipped AAA titles in a leadership role
• Proven ability to guide and inspire large development teams and analyze designs at a project level
• Exhibited ability to coach and mentor employees at all levels of an organization
• Able to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with all development disciplines
• Unrelenting self-motivation and initiative
