Job Description
Under the mentorship of Drs. Theodorescu and Tatonetti, this summer research internship offers the student the unique opportunity to join a research team for a minimum of 8 weeks and 320 hours.
Primary Responsibilities:
Review and research project background with mentor.
Participate in all phases of research including planning, preparation, analysis, and evaluation.
Make novel observations, collect, and interpret data.
Draw sound scientific conclusions based on data analysis.
Present project reviews before colleagues and peers.
Internship Goal & Objectives
Understand the concepts and elements of research and project designs, specifically artificial intelligence models in cancer research.
Receive training and proceed to read, write and critique scientific literature and understand various programming languages, such as R or Python.
Participate in data collection and logging for a field-changing AI project.
Conduct dry lab procedures, including data cleaning, choosing and running AI models, and troubleshooting issues related to AI model runs.
The intern may participate in authorship of a review article in a medical journal.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must have a HS Diploma or GED.
Must reside in the greater Los Angeles area or surrounding cities while conducting all activities related to the intern or visitor appointment.
INTERNS: Those participating for academic credit must receive academic credit for the duration of the internship.
VISITORS: Must be receiving funding from an eligible sponsoring institution (employer, educator, funder, etc.).
Preferred Education & Experience
Intern must currently be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in the United States or have received a bachelor’s degree from such institution within the last twelve (12) months.
