Basic Qualifications:
- Typically a Bachelor of Science in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or a related field with a strong mathematical component and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Demonstrated experience with mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, or computational methods in academic or professional settings.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages commonly used in data science and computational mathematics, such as Python, R, MATLAB, or Julia.
- Strong understanding of mathematical concepts relevant to data science, AI, and programming, including linear algebra, calculus, probability theory, and optimization.
- Proven ability and enthusiasm to rapidly grasp and apply new mathematical theories, algorithms, and techniques.
- Capacity to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams, fostering innovation and knowledge sharing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex mathematical ideas clearly and persuasively to various stakeholders.
- Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI government security clearance.
- This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or a related field with a strong mathematical component
- Active TS/SCI
- Proven track record of successful project involvement with government agencies, demonstrating the application of mathematical and computational techniques to address complex challenges in defense or national security domains.
- Strong interdisciplinary background, showcasing adaptability and continuous learning in emerging mathematical and technological domains.
- Advanced expertise in mathematical and computational techniques relevant to national security, including but not limited to:
- Advanced proficiency in mathematical modeling and simulation techniques, with experience in tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or equivalent software.
- In-depth knowledge of statistical analysis, machine learning, and AI methodologies, with practical experience in applying these techniques to real-world problems.
- Expertise in optimization algorithms, numerical methods, and computational mathematics, with a focus on algorithm development and implementation.
- Demonstrated experience in interdisciplinary areas such as sensor fusion, computational imaging, or electromagnetics, showcasing the ability to integrate mathematical principles into diverse applications.
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in mathematical and computational tasks, including Python, R, MATLAB, or Julia, as well as experience with languages such as C, C++, or CUDA for performance-critical applications
