Position Description:
Singer Steel, part of the Ryerson family of companies, has an opportunity for a Service Center Operator position. As a Service Center Operator you are responsible for daily machine operation to produce parts to customer specifications. Conducting daily prestart inspections on all required equipment/machine and identify any issues The future will be made from metal. There is no automatic right to work from home, and at such time as determined by Ryerson, this arrangement may change. This position is 2nd shift. The hours for this position are Monday- Friday from 2:30 pm to 11:30 pm.
Roles and Responsibilities: • Truck loading/unloading and proper completion of paperwork for shipping/receiving • Pulling and staging feedstock for production orders • Ensuring size, material finish, and accuracy of the finished goods • Breaking down bulk bundles for customer specific orders • Packaging of material to customer requirements • Staging of material for shipping • Operating a crane, forklift or side loader to move material as needed • Working in a safe manner as outlined during training and use prescribed safety equipment including PPE • All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice
Position Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED • Some experience in skilled machine operator • Regular attendance, including being on time and ready to work at assigned start time • Ability to work assigned overtime, at times with short notice • Ability to navigate on a computer to find information, enter information when prompted and print as necessary • Successfully pass the Ramsay Corporation Combined Basic Skills Assessment which evaluates your reading, math, inspection & measurement, and process monitoring & problem-solving skills
