Position description
This will be a full-time post-doctoral fellow position in the Department of Neurosurgery in the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. Under the supervision of a principle investigator, the incumbent will assist and facilitate animal experiments. Training will be a continuous feature of this position. Specifically, candidate will assist in conducting animal based experiments in traumatic brain injury. Duties include rodent surgical techniques, rodent behavioral testing, immunohistochemistry, mitochondrial isolation, tissue preservation, tissue slicing and processing, microscopy, data analysis and functional assessments. Candidate will assist in ordering laboratory equipment and supplies and maintaining stock solutions. This researcher will be working on innovative research and as such will learn new techniques as they apply to emerging projects and teach other research personnel as necessary, specifically regarding to cortical spreading depression. Administrative work will be required, including maintenance of records, approval of protocols, laboratory maintenance, and scheduling of experiments. Candidate will follow all laboratory safety practices. Training volunteers, assist with and maintain ARC protocols.
Salary range is $64,480 - $77,327.
Successful candidates for postdoc positions are expected to have a PhD degree in Neuroscience or related fields.
