The Esports team is focused on delivering amazing fan experiences through our global events and regional competitions. Our professional and semi-professional competitive tiers in League of Legends, VALORANT and other Esports involve thousands of players and hundreds of organizations competing every week.
The Competitive Operations III, Business Operations role is to oversee the business health within the competitive operations vertical of Riot Games Esports properties in the Americas. In collaboration with your colleagues from the business development and legal department, you will oversee the implementation and enforcement of policies that govern rights & responsibilities between Riot and its partners, which mainly consist of teams and tournament organizers. These regulations include, but are not limited to, competition rules, sponsorship policies, IP rights, protecting competition integrity, commercial terms, and corporate governance. You will directly liaise with team managers and owners to answer inquiries, identify and solve problems, issue approvals, brainstorm new ideas, and collaborate decision-making process for regulatory changes.
Responsibilities:
- Liaise with the competition managers, legal counsel, business development, and other stakeholders to support the evolution of global and local competition regulations
- Maintain in-depth understanding of rules and regulations of the competition
- Support the licensing process of professional teams across our esports properties
- Support team relations for business regulations, corporate governance, approval processes
- Liaise with legal to ensure that rights & obligations of team participation agreements are upheld and enforced
- Liaise with finance department to support administration of our competition’s business operations, including prize money payouts and revenue sharing mechanics if applicable
- Liaise with leads, organizations, and team owners across the Americas offices
- Manage contracts and document archive
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of business administration or project management related experience
- You have a good understanding of the esports and/or sports industry, league and team business
- Previous work experience with esports, traditional sports, IP governance, or league operations.
- Ability to travel internationally upon request within the Americas territory (North America and South America)
Desired Qualifications:
- An advanced degree in business administration, finance, legal, or other relevant field
- Fluency in additional language(s) beyond English, such as Spanish or Portuguese
