Early Head Start - Early Childhood Education (ECE) Coordinator

What We're Looking For:
We are seeking an ECE Coordinator who designs, coordinates, delivers and evaluates high quality educational services to programs serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in the family child care home setting. Provides training and professional development to Child Development Specialist and FCCH providers to increase the quality and strengthen practices that enhance the healthy growth and development of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers (birth to five years of age). Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of program ongoing assessment process, curriculum development and education school readiness goals. Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise to the Early Head Start Program. Responsible for overall coordination of services provided through Child Development Specialist. Coordinator has further responsibility for coordinating services for health, nutrition, mental health and disabilities services to ensure the overall health, social and emotional well being of program participants.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Supervises, Coaches, and mentors Child Development Specialist by providing recommendations on instructional materials, teaching methods, and related equipment for the purpose of providing high quality services to children.
- Works with a team to plan and implement a comprehensive child development program that meets the Head Start definition of curriculum in all program options and settings.
- Provides monitoring and technical assistance to Child Development Specialist overseeing the child care partners in the delivery of a quality Early Head Start program.
- Assist Inspects Center facilities and Day Care homes for health, safety, fire, and occupancy violation for the purpose recommending necessary corrective action to assure environmental quality.
- Monitors that Child Development Specialist has maintained implemented the Head Start curriculum development, ongoing assessment, and the coordination of the child portfolio.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of Head Start and Early Head Start Performance Standards
- Knowledge of state funded Family Child Care Homes programs
- Knowledge of Child Care Licensing Regulations and Head Start Performance Standards
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and leadership's competencies.
EDUCATION:
BA in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Human Development or related field with knowledge of child development birth to three. Hold a California Program Supervisors Permit or be eligible to obtain. Three or more years experience working with families in a support and empowering environment.
EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) or more years of experience in a State funded child care program, Head Start, or Early Head Start program in a management or coordinating position. Must have a working knowledge of various computer programs including Microsoft Word, and Excel. Excellent computer skills required. Experience in statistical analysis and working with social services or related community activities preferred.
Special Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation and possess a valid California Driver License in good standing with DMV required; current liability insurance
- Must meet State health requirements to include passing a physical examination as condition of employment, Live Scan, and TB clearance.
