Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Senior Flight Controls Systems Engineer to join our Systems Service Engineering team in Seal Beach, CA.
As part of BCA Customer Support, the primary responsibility in this role will be to address and resolve in-service issues related to airplane Flight Control Systems. You will be tasked with working directly with airline customers, to analyze system issues, write technical documents to inform airline customers of system issues status/resolution, and monitor supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
This position requires the flexibility to support emergent airline issues, requirements, and meetings. Occasionally, you may be required to work off-shift schedules to support the 24/7/365 fleet operation.
Position Responsibilities:
Assesses and resolves product/process issues through the product life-cycle
Leads research of technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer
Designs and/or provides analysis of interim and final engineering solutions to return airplanes to revenue service
Works with and possibly directs cross-functional teams, to conduct root cause analysis, and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances
Assesses complex system events reports to determine potential safety issues
Develops and implements product/process improvements
Writes documentation of hardware and software related problems
Participates in activities for on-site disabled product repair teams
Develops customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment
Solves problems, and provides other support of fielded hardware and software, over the entire product life-cycle
Works with others to develop program test strategies
Manages performance of critical suppliers to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
Conducts program independent reviews and reports results to program leadership
Provides critical support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product life-cycle
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work in Seal Beach, CA.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
5+ years of experience with Aircraft Flight Controls
Must be willing to support a 24/7 on-call rotation environment to support the needs of the customer
Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally 10% of the time

9+ years of related work experience
Master’s degree in electrical, Systems, Controls, or Aerospace Engineering
Experience directly interfacing with customers
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to collaborate with multiple team functions

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
