Job Summary
The Renaissance Cleveland Hotel is transforming to Hotel Cleveland, an Autograph Collection by Marriott. This historic hotel is a hub where stories unfold and connections are made, mirroring the city’s relentless spirit and welcoming heart. The property is currently undergoing a 90 million dollar renovation and will debut in Spring 2024. The hotel features 60,000 square feet of event space including the largest Marriott ballroom in the state of Ohio, two secondary ballrooms and a dedicated exhibit hall, along with 491 guest rooms including 50 suites.
The Assistant Director of Sales functions as the sales leader of the property’s group sales effort for group business and manages a team of on property group sales associates. Shares responsibility for achieving group revenue goals. Manages the day-to-day leadership oversight of a team of on-property group and catering sales managers and administrative associates with a focus on building long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of the property’s sales objectives. Maintains accountability for verifying that the team maximizes group revenue opportunities by up-selling and accurately forecasting revenues (e.g., catering and group rooms) for all events. Acts as the on-property liaison for group sales within the pre-defined peak room parameters for Property Sales. Contracts and closes group business. Achieves group revenue goals by actively up-selling each business opportunity to maximize revenue opportunity. Additional responsibilities include project-based assignments to assist in hotel’s upcoming brand transition to Autograph Collection by Marriott, in multiple arenas including marketing, brand immersion/training, and systems conversion. The ADOS will assist the Director of Sales and Marketing on budget development, goal setting, and sales strategies for the property.
Responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 4 years of progressive hotel sales experience preferred; or a 4-year college degree and at least 1 year of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and at least 2 years of related experience.
Must have a valid driver’s license in the applicable state.
Must possess highly developed verbal & written communication skills to frequently negotiate convince sell and influence other managerial personnel hotel guest(s) and/or corporate clients.
Must have thorough experience with professional selling skills: opening probing supporting closing
Shows strong analytical skills and strategic vision in establishing appropriate sales deployment
Must be proficient in general computer knowledge especially Microsoft Office products
Must be able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks
Strong organization and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and manage people of diverse socioeconomic cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds while solving complex problems and creating a productive sales team
Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing/hospitality profession.
Must work well in stressful high pressure situations; maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate all group transient and catering sales solicitations and bookings to maximize overall revenue.
Understand the content reflected in contracts and how to negotiate terms therein.
Develop and maintain market awareness to ensure ability to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies.
Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market.
Adheres to Aimbridge Hospitality’s established regulations company standards sales standards and sales metrics related.
Comply with attainment of individual goals as well as team goals and budgeted metrics.
Train all members of the hotel staff on how to recognize and capitalize on all sales opportunities to increase hotel occupancy and revenue.
In partnership with the Director of Sales help to manage Human Resources in the division in order to attract retain and motivate the employees; hire train develop empower coach and counsel conduct performance and salary reviews resolve problems provide open communication vehicles discipline and terminate as appropriate.
Help to supervise Catering & Event Management Team (as applicable) to ensure that the Catering Food & Beverage and Meeting Room rental budgets are met or exceeded.
Maintain strong visibility in local community and industry organizations.
Attend and/or conduct daily/weekly/monthly meetings and any other functions required by management providing training on a rotational basis.
Maintains professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication relationships to achieve initiatives with respective marketing partner(s) and other internal departments (i.e. Second Wave Aimbridge Digital or Branded field marketing).
