QUALIFICATIONS:
High school degree or equivalent is required.
Extensive knowledge of steamships/sailing and /or maritime history required
Basic computer skills
Ability to physically maintain displays and archival materials
Ability to learn and retain the ship's historical and technical information
Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail speed and accuracy
Ability to move throughout the Queen Mary (standing walking) for extended periods of time
Ability to multi-task in a high-profile high-traffic environment
Must possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money
Must have the ability to communicate clearly and directly with guests using a positive clear speaking voice
Ability to read comprehend and write simple instructions and/or short correspondence and memos
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Acts as a steward of the ship and a representing the historical significance and the legacy of the Queen Mary.
Performs wedding ceremonies as an officiant
Maintains an up to date working knowledge and historical knowledge of the Queen Mary
Acts as a spokesman for the ship in regards to ship history
Serves as the primary guide for group sales clients
Conducts crew member orientation tours
Maintains ship signal flags
Serves as an experienced trainer for new tour guides
Learns and presents the script for all tours
Leads public and private historic tours
Opens and closes attraction areas
Greets guests in a warm and friendly manner acknowledging them upon arrival
Ensures the ship displays are clean organized and well-maintained
Answers questions about the Queen Mary tours and guided tours
Interacts with crew members in a professional manner assisting other departments with necessary information
Manages and resolves guest complaints and compliments in a professional and courteous manner
Maintains an up to date working knowledge of all property amenities as well as any special events
Participates in the monthly forecast of revenues and expenses for the Attraction Department
