SCAG is a great place to develop skills that you will take with you on your professional journey. Internships will begin approximately mid-July and will be limited to a maximum of 29 hours a week for the duration of the internship (499 hours). Interns are expected to work at least 15 hours per week.

In this role you can expect to

Support the Chief Human Resources Officer in achieving divisional objectives.
Assist in the development and implementation of organizational change initiatives through researching concepts and developing recommendations to HR leadership.
Support the implementation of organizational development, talent management, and total rewards program enhancements and initiatives, including developing and maintaining project plans and timelines.
Support the Human Resources Division with process improvement efforts and agency-wide initiatives such as the implementation SCAG’s new Strategic Plan.
Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring to this role

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: An undergraduate or graduate student who is currently enrolled in a university or community college taking classes toward a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Public Administration, or related field, or who has graduated within the previous 24 months.

We’ll be a great match if you have:

Basic understanding of human resources functions and procedures, particularly in the areas of organizational development and talent management.
Ability to research complex concepts and provide recommendations and solutions.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong project management skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling of sensitive information.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders throughout the organization.
Experience using Office 365 suite and knowledge of Microsoft Teams.
