The City of La Verne is seeking a dedicated Equipment Mechanic to join and grow with our dynamic Public Works' team.

The Equipment Mechanic I enjoys a four (4) day workweek (Monday – Thursday and every Friday off) with a 9-hour shift/work schedule (6:30AM - 4:00PM), some after hour and weekends are required if assigned to standby.

WORKING FOR THE CITY OF LA VERNE - PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT:Working for the Public Works Department offers exciting and plentiful opportunities. Employees are part of a dedicated team that perform a variety of automotive and equipment repair services that are of vital importance to the city. The Fleet Maintenance division provides services ranging from street services to maintenance of the City’s fleet of vehicles. This includes the purchase, maintenance and repair of City owned vehicles and equipment for all departments. The division also maintains the police and fire department vehicles. Currently, the City’s fleet consists of more than 123 vehicles.
ABOUT THE POSITION: The Equipment Mechanic I is an entry-level position and is responsible to maintain, diagnose and make mechanical repairs to cars, trucks, construction and other power-driven equipment. General supervision is provided by the Fleet Manager and Equipment Mechanic II. Depending on assignment, may receive direction from other higher level management staff.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two years of basic automotive and equipment repair and preventive maintenance experience that includes tires, oil changes, bulbs, knowledge of systems, a variety of equipment, and tools.
