The Senior Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for providing age-appropriate assessment and interventions, ensuring optimal exam quality and demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of ultrasound physics, anatomy, and physiology. This role involves coordinating patient care, verifying physician orders, and producing diagnostic images using ultrasound equipment. The technologist must adhere to departmental standards, prioritize tasks, troubleshoot equipment issues, and maintain accurate records. Additionally, they play a key role in patient advocacy, emergency procedures and maintaining a clean and organized work area. Administrative duties include equipment maintenance, patient scheduling, train and direct technologists in the performance of new ultrasound techniques and procedures and the maintaining of compliance with institutional and professional standards.
Job Qualifications

·At least 5 years of experience in an acute care hospital – required
·RDMS and RVT active – required
·BLS/CPR from American Heart Association or American Red Cross - required
·Graduate of CAAHAP ultrasound program – required
·AAS or higher in Medical Sonography – preferred
·Obtains, evaluates and uses information from the patient requisition, medical records and referring physician and correlates with acquired images
·Knowledge of medical terminology with the ability to distinguish between types of procedures within the assigned department(s) and medical diagnoses
·Understand the requirements of the EMTALA (Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act)
