Job Description
Lead and oversee HR operations in compliance with employment laws and regulations.
Directly oversee a team of HR business partners and specialists who support the employee relations strategies at site locations/yards.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and development to HR and operations teams.
Partner with senior leaders to understand operational goals and develop HR strategies and initiatives to support them.
Partner with Corporate HR to roll out benefits and compensation programs and strategies that help attract and retain top talent.
Partner with talent acquisition and operational leaders on workforce planning to support hiring and retention initiatives and optimal working environments at all levels of the organization.
Partner with talent management to develop and implement HR programs and processes related to an employee life cycle, including onboarding, development, and engagement.
Partner with talent development to identify, develop, and facilitate leadership development training, including best practices in hiring, discipline, performance management, and engagement and basic knowledge of company HR policies and employment law.
Act as a change agent and advocate for a positive workplace culture and employee experience.
Analyze HR metrics and data to identify trends and provide recommendations for improvement.
Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relation issues.
Guide leave management processes, including ADA accommodations.
Develop and implement HR practices and policies that comply with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and align them with organizational values and objectives.
Work closely with the Legal Department and outside counsel regarding litigation activity.
Research, investigate, and respond to internal and external employment claims.
Provide recommendations on policies, procedures, and practices that support the business strategy.
Provide counsel to operations to reduce risks, improve engagement, and motivate performance.
Provide union awareness training for supervisory levels of the organization.
Manage human resource projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, human resources, or related field;
Five (5) years or more of progressive experience in HR operations and management
Strong understanding of HR best practices in employee relations and/or HR operations.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including DOT.
Experience with HR compliance, including EEO, ADA, FMLA, and other relevant employment laws.
Experience with HRIS and HCM software to conduct quantitative and qualitative research.
Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate data and provide actionable insights.
Experience in developing and implementing HR programs and initiatives.
Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to address stakeholders at all levels.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Leadership and team management skills with at least one year of managing subordinates.
Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional HR certifications such as Professional in Human Resources (PHR), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) are preferred.
Ten (10) years or more of progressive experience in HR operations and management.
