Aging Services Administrator –Access Your Benefits Grant Funded Position
Examples of Duties
Under administrative direction, plans and administers a specific project or program for the Department of Aging. Serves as the administrative supervisor on projects or programs. Plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews activities of subordinate personnel. Monitors the project/program's operating budget and assists in the annual preparation of same. Designs, implements, and monitors procedures utilized in program evaluation. Develops and secures commitments from other City departments and agencies to provide services to program participants. Provides technical assistance or reviews program policies and procedures. Maintains current information and oversees the preparation of project status reports. Prepares financial and narrative reports and program applications. Communicates project/program status and information to municipal officials and/or public and private entities. May supervise employees assigned to the respective project. Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
A High School Diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor's Degree is required, those in Social Work, Social Services, Gerontology, Counseling, Human Services, Psychology Public Health, Health Services, or closely related field from a four-year accredited college or university are preferred; A Master's Degree is preferred. Two years of full time progressively responsible experience in government or private sector program administration is required. Three years of full time experience in human services is also required, working with the elderly and/or disabled adults is also preferred. (Substitution: Post graduate education in one of the above fields may substitute for work in government or the private sector and/or experience working with human services on a year-for-year basis) Must be able to operate a personal computer with Microsoft Office Suites. A valid State of Ohio Driver's License is required. Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds. Must comply with the fingerprint-based records check under RCS 173.394. Strong verbal, written, oral, electronic, communication, and public speaking, planning, and organization skills are required.
Supplemental Information
Duties:
Respond to referrals and requests for service from older adults and/or adults with disabilities through the telephone, email, or walk in contacts
Complete home visits as needed with older adults and adults with disabilities
Supervise student interns, student aides, AARP trainees, volunteers, and direct report staff
Assist clients in applying for public assistance cost saving programs (i.e. Medicaid, Medicare Savings Programs, SSI, HEAP, SNAP, etc.)
Manage multiple databases
Work collaboratively with Aging staff members, City of Cleveland Departments and community based agencies to serve clients
Maintain a working knowledge of social service, public, private, and governmental agencies that provide service to elderly persons and adults with disabilities
Actively participate in activities of Age Friendly Cleveland Plan
Attend and/or assist in facilitating community presentations
Complete monthly reporting and audits for billable funding target units
Facilitate team meetings and trainings
Meet with outside organizations and agencies to build partnerships for Cleveland older adults and disabled residents
