ABOUT THE POSITION Long Beach Community College District is currently seeking a one - year Full-Time Long-Term Substitute (temporary) Anatomy/Physiology Professor commencing with the fall 2024 semester. This assignment also includes work in normal professional activities, committee work, and student activities. The teaching assignment may be at the Liberal Arts campus, the Pacific Coast campus or other college teaching locations. The assignment may be day, evening, weekend, on-line or off campus and is subject to change as needed. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s in any biological science OR
Bachelor’s in any biological science AND
Master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science OR
the equivalent
All candidates must demonstrate Evidence of a sensitivity, understanding, and ability to manage the classroom environment AND effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Educational and/or instructional preparation in anatomy and/or physiology.
At least 2 years of recent experience teaching anatomy and/or physiology to college students, especially at a community college.
Ability to adapt to the learning styles and needs of diverse student populations taking a wide range of science courses.
Ability to use a variety of teaching strategies and technologies that encourage retention while successfully challenging diverse student populations.
Evidence of developing laboratory curriculum with computer technology delivery and hands-on experience for the student.
Show evidence of desire and active participation in department, division, and college committees, and in the participatory governance of Long Beach City College.
Show evidence of desire and ability to take on leadership roles both within the department and in the institution as a whole.
Evidence of an ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Evidence of understanding and/or experience working with Student Learning Outcomes and their assessment.
