Selectek has an immediate opportunity for a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer in Fairfax, VA. In this role, you will design mechanical and HVAC/plumbing systems for multi-family residential and light commercial projects. This is a hybrid work from home position. Duties & Description:
Perform and review HVAC load calculations, duct sizing, and system sizing per ASHRAE and ACCA Standards
Perform plumbing calculations for residential, multi-family, and small commercial projects using International Plumbing Codes
Prepare mechanical and plumbing construction drawings using AutoCAD MEP
Analyze mechanical and plumbing engineering problems and formulate solutions
Create new projects and/or modify existing projects using engineering software such as Trane Trace, Wrightsoft Suite, AutoCAD MEP, RESCheck, COMCheck, etc.
Communicate any auditing areas to Management and provide options for resolution
Manage project flow and deadlines efficiently and in a timely manner
Receive and understand client constraints
Manage and control all data through Excel and SharePoint
Understand current IECC, IMC, IPC, IBC, IRC, and state codes
Organize scope into major categories to outline deliverables and milestones
Determine primary timetable for deliverables
Interface with Operations, Owners, and Subcontractors to discuss impact of work and resolution of problems
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
EIT and CHD certifications
4 - 6 years relevant work experience
Possess strong knowledge of mechanical fundamentals
Prior construction industry experience
