Job Abstract

In this role, you will provide technical ophthalmic and administrative assistance to the medical staff of the Calabasas Division and report directly to the Division Manager. The Ophthalmic Tech Lead is the lead technician and is the central point for overseeing patient care for the clinic by coordinating the ophthalmic support staff including OTs and Scribes. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Train new staff members
• Oversee the Ophthalmic Technicians' work schedule and performance
• Assist with patient care administrative issues and escalations
• Perform patient testing, imaging, and assist in procedures
• Request prior authorizations and medication refills

Required:

· Minimum 5 years of recent experience providing technical support in an Ophthalmology practice.

· Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician

· Knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology, anatomy and physiology of the visual systems helpful

· Skill in acquiring accurate medical history, measuring and recording visual acuity, and tonometry.

· Ability to work with Microsoft Word & Excel software.

· Ability to type with speed and accuracy.

· Excellent interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work on a self- directed basis with limited supervision.

· Ability to prioritize activities with varying time sensitivities.

· Ability to analyze clinical and administrative information and determine appropriate course(s) of action to resolve conflicts and discrepancies.

· Knowledge of the operations and maintenance of patient-related testing equipment.
