PenFed’s Enterprise Risk Management Team is seeking an individual with extensive expertise in financial markets risk and interest rate risk to strengthen the level of effective challenge offered at the second line level; help create appropriate governance vehicles for management of these risks at the second line level and support the institution’s continued maturation in enterprise-wide risk identification, controls creation, and testing in these areas. Assist the Head of Market Risk to provide insight on Bond Price sensitivity and maturity risk, premiums and validate or challenge Economic Value of Equity (EVE) projections upon which future financial capacity is based. Assist in creating and updating policy guidance and overseeing governance related to management of Market risks. Populate the risk catalogue for PenFed in Market risk, providing a second line challenge to BU assessment of risks and controls with regard to Market Risk. Assist the Head of Market Risk to examine the Market Risk of PenFed’s Balance Sheet and the hedging of it with IR swaps, options, or other derivatives. Assist the Head of Market Risk in effective challenge for models proposed for use at PenFed, as well as those in regular use. Assist the Head of Market Risk to implement Best Practices Template across all PenFed Market Risk Portfolio’s. Become proficient in using our Challenger Analytics Platform (PolyPath) to run on a daily basis all Market Risk related Portfolio’s. Aid in transitioning Excel spreadsheet analysis to VB or another more robust environment. Daily involvement on assisting the Market Risk Oversight of all Market Risk related positions. Qualifications Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered. BS degree in finance or related field required. MS Degree in a related field is preferred. Minimum of Ten (10) years of related experience in the Financial Industry. Experience in Capital Markets. Experience in the analysis of the Market Risk of Mortgage’s. Experience in quantitative modeling. Experience in the management and hedging of interest rate and volatility exposures. Ability to work with confidence in environments of significant velocity. Ability to deliver ongoing, effective challenge to day-to-day partners. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and positive attitude. Proven partnership skills in areas of complexity and change. Expertise creating policies and procedures codifying best practice management of interest rate and market risk areas and gaining Enterprise acceptance. Familiarity with risk framework and processes at financial institutions. Supervisory Responsibility This position will not supervise staff. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise. *Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.* Travel Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call will be required.
