Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, an international law firm, is actively recruiting a Human Resources Administrator in the Los Angeles office. This position is responsible for providing day-to-day human resources support of a complex, sensitive and confidential nature to staff and lawyers in accordance with firm policies and procedures. Works closely with all levels of firm leadership on various human resources initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Oversees staff performance to include determining individual performance expectations. Works directly with attorneys and administrative supervisors to counsel and motivate staff. Performs needs analysis and recommends training and development programs.
- Coaches and counsels employees on performance matters and firm policies. Works closely with firm management on resolving sensitive employment and workplace matters. Makes recommendations and partners with Office Administrator and Human Resources Director to approve and implement staff probations and terminations. Prepares all file documentation, administers policy/protocols and makes policy recommendations.
- Partners with office administration and/or departmental managers to monitor staff utilization to ensure lawyer needs are met, staff workloads are equitably distributed, and firm resources are used wisely. Presents and implements creative staffing solutions when existing arrangements are not working effectively. Secures overtime and/or temporary office help as necessary. Monitors and approves overtime.
- Recruits staff positions to include performing analysis of position requirements, communicating available positions to current staff and drafting job descriptions. Reviews resumes and inquiries from job applicants, coordinates and conducts employment interviews and extends offers of employment. Supervises pre-employment screening, to include reference checking and background checks, reviews results and complies with administrative procedures to rescind offers if necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
Experience: Three years’ job related experience required, including internships, preferably in a law firm, professional services, or other client relationship-based organization. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Travel may be required. Availability and willingness to work hours as needed to meet critical deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications. Strong commitment to client service excellence and teamwork. Must possess the highest standards of ethical conduct and professionalism. Must act as catalyst for change, drive and own results. Creative and innovative. Excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening) and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse group of professionals. Sound judgment and flexibility. Ability to work well under pressure, patience, diplomacy, high stress tolerance, excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions. Visual acuity needed to process and read extensive written communications. Ability to receive and convey detailed information through oral communication. Essential competency processes include language ability, reasoning and memory. The expected salary range for Los Angeles based employees is $92,600 to $147,800, though salaries for employees based outside of Los Angeles may differ. Beyond an employment candidate’s physical location, salary offers may be based on a number of factors, including but not limited to, education, training, and/or experience.
