Job Summary
Under the direction of the Administrator of Early & Expanded Learning or designee, plans, organizes, and implements approved developmentally appropriate curriculum for the development of children enrolled in the District’s early learning programs; provides a safe and nurturing learning environment conducive to the growth and development of all children. This position may work a schedule consistent with the needs of the District’s early learning programs, which may differ from the regular school district calendar and work schedule.
Requirements / Qualifications
A) Child Development Teacher Permit with twenty-four units ECE/CD (Early Childhood Education/Child Development), including core courses, plus sixteen GE (General Education) units and one year experience (175 days at a minimum of 3 hours per day) working in an early learning and care setting,
OR
B) Current elementary teaching credential with twelve ECE/CD units and two years of experience in ECE or a childcare and development program.
OR
C) Single subject credential in home economics and twelve ECE/CD units and two years of experience in ECE or a childcare and development program.
OR
D) Associate's degree (AA) or higher in ECE or related field, with three-semester units of supervised ECE field experience
OR
E) Child Development Associate Teacher Permit and a signed written agreement to complete requirements for a California Child Development Teacher Permit within two years of date of
employment and one year of teaching experience in a licensed daycare center or comparable group childcare program.
Early Learning I - Associate's Degree & Child Development Permit
Early Learning II - Bachelor's Degree & Site Supervisor Permit
Working knowledge of and/or experience with the following is highly desirable:
- CLASS Dimensions
- High Scope Approach
- Preschool GLAD
Applicants must show evidence of meeting ONE of the educational requirements in A - E.
Evidence can include but is not limited to transcripts, copy of degree, copy of teacher permit or teaching credential.
