Summary:
Ground Control Business Management, a subsidiary of NFP, is hiring a Tax Director. Our Tax Director will oversee the tax department and work with the business management teams to conduct high level detail reviews of tax return documents. In addition, the Tax Director will be responsible for researching and resolving complex tax issues. The Tax Director will also mentor and train tax managers and their staff and help manage the overall workflow of the tax department, assessing progress and status of upcoming deadlines and communicating to teams as necessary. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage internal teams as well as a deep understanding of complex tax laws and regulations. This role will be responsible for implementing strategies and procedures to increase the departments efficiencies and culture.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct high level review of complex multi-state tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, (individual, S corps, C corps, partnerships, and estate returns)
- Analyze tax implications for individual/business tax returns
- Mentor, supervise and tax staff
- Work closely with Tax Managers to ensure necessary information is received for timely preparation of tax returns
- Maintain knowledge of state and federal laws and ensure compliance regarding tax, tax software & technology, and accounting standards
- Take lead in addressing various tax related matters and proposing and implementing resolutions to any challenges
- Address inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities, and propose recommendations to the client for consideration
- Manage workflow and delegate work as necessary during critical tax deadlines and year-end closeout process
- Collaborate with Partners to resolve complex tax matters for clients
- Create and execute tax planning strategies to decrease tax costs, mitigate tax risks and reduce audit deficiencies · Create and execute tax planning strategies to increase business revenue
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting (or related business field)
- Active CPA license - required
- 10-14 years of experience in accounting and taxation for high net-worth individuals
- 5 or more years of direct experience overseeing a Tax Department (or similar)
- In depth knowledge of tax concepts and regulations related to individuals, C corps, S corps, partnerships, trusts, and foreign tax compliance
- Master’s Degree in Taxation - preferred
- Experience in Business Management – preferred
- Experience in Agilink & Zenith – preferred
- Proficiency with CCH, Axcess, XCM, BNA – preferred
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent leadership skills
- Ability to thrive in a team environment

The base salary range for this position is $165,000 – $185,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
