Job Summary
THE POSITION
The Counselor - Behavior Manager will promote early identification and intervention of and for students with behavioral, social, and/or emotional problems providing opportunities for ameliorative intervention; and recommend procedures for dealing with those effects on a student’s learning and behavior. The Counselor - Behavior Manager’s primary goal is to increase attendance and decrease suspensions school-wide, improving and maintaining a safe climate and culture conducive to learning. This position will work primarily within LACOE schools serving at-promise youth who may be incarcerated, expelled, homeless, foster, and suffer from chronic absenteeism, below grade level reading and math, and/or are credit deficient.
Requirements / Qualifications
Experience:
• Three years of experience required in the field of social work or school counseling working with school-age children.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification preferred.
• Experience and training in Dialectical Behavior Training (DBT) preferred.
• Teaching experience in school settings with at-promise youth, systems-involved preferred.
• Work experience in juvenile court or county community school settings preferred.
Education:
A Master’s degree in social work or counseling from an institution of higher learning accredited by one of the six regional accreditation associations as recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation

• Must hold a valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPS) in school counseling.

• On destination drop down menu select save as PDF and save to your computer.
