Currently, we are seeking a Financial Analyst for our Motion Picture Division Finance Group in Culver City, CA office. This individual will be responsible, in part, for the Sony Pictures Animation and Screen Gems labels including forecasting and analyses of Development (approximately 50% of role), Cash forecasting and consolidation (approximately 25% of role) and Overhead consolidation responsibilities (approximately 25% of role).
Primary Responsibilities:
SCREEN GEMS and ANIMATION Labels
Assist in the maintenance of film models, including monthly cleanup and ensuring the latest models are uploaded into the financial system for close and Forecast/Budget
Maintain and update label decks for Forecasts and Budget/MRP
Review Film Performance at least quarterly; analyze trends by market as needed to assess reasonableness
Prepare Monday Morning Reports for theatrical releases as needed
Forecast development spend and expense; reconcile variances on a monthly basis
Prepare quarterly write-off schedules to review with division heads
Review quarterly commitments with division heads; with Creative and Business Affairs, ensure budgets are met
CASH Forecasting
Support Director’s consolidation of cash receipts and disbursements
Prepare drivers of difference for Forecast and Budget/MRP
Forecast specific accounts e.g. amounts paid to participants, investor recoupment, guild payments, and Overhead
Assist in explaining P&L to Operating Cash variances, key account balance movements and preparing indirect cash flow statements
Prepare ad hoc schedules as needed
OVERHEAD Planning
Prepare overhead Forecast and Budget/MRP for MPG labels
Assist in consolidation of overhead for entire MPG division, including Worldwide Theatrical, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions, Imageworks, Studio Operations, and Distribution Content Services
Prepare detailed Forecast and Budget reconciliations for all MPG divisions
Assist in preparation of overhead presentation slides for Forecast and Budget
Review monthly overhead actuals for material variances and provide explanations to manager
Prepare ad hoc analysis as needed
Qualifications:
Knowledge and Skills:
1 to 2 years of work experience preferred
BS/BA degree with accounting/finance/economics focus required
CPA and Entertainment experience and SAP knowledge are a plus but not required
Strong MS Excel skills required (Look-ups, pivot tables, macros)
Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and problem solve; provide innovative solutions to shorten existing processes
Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects while working in a cross-functional team environment.
Strong accounting knowledge
Ability to perform tasks with reasonable independence; articulate in expressing issues and potential solutions
Strong level of communication with management, staff, and other lines of business; good interpersonal skills
The anticipated base salary for this position is $64,000-$80,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
