St. Paul High School is a co-educational Catholic college preparatory high school in Santa Fe Springs. We currently accept resumes for a compassionate and dedicated High School academic counselor. As an academic counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting our students’ academic, social, and emotional development. You will work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to create a positive and nurturing environment conducive to student success. Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field from an accredited institution.
State certification or licensure as a school counselor.
Previous experience working as a counselor in a school setting is preferred.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to establish rapport with diverse students and families.
Knowledge of adolescent development, mental health issues, and counseling techniques.
Familiarity with educational and career planning resources.
Commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address students’ academic, personal, and social concerns.
Assist students in developing academic and career goals, and guide course selection, college admissions, and career planning.
Conduct assessments to identify students’ strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
Collaborate with teachers and parents to develop strategies for supporting students’ academic progress and emotional well-being.
Implement programs and initiatives to promote positive mental health and prevent bullying, substance abuse, and other issues affecting students.
Serve as a resource for students and families in crisis, and make appropriate referrals to external agencies when necessary.
Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions in compliance with school policies and confidentiality laws.
Stay informed about current trends and best practices in school counseling, and participate in professional development activities to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.

The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range.
