Job Description
SSP is hiring a Retail Space Planner manager who will be working as a subject matter expert providing organization and structure (e.g., produce planograms, evaluating/recommending modulars at retail, in store projects, building category awareness) for how space is utilized in each store to maximize sales in US and Canadian airport restaurant and retail locations.
Requires up to 30% travel throughout the US and Canada
Pays $75,000 - $95,000 per year
Essential Functions
Conduct initial assessments of new and existing space allocation at each location, develop a plan for improving the current state, and implement that plan in partnership with commercial teams.
Develop merchandising floor plans by analyzing the performance of categories and stores utilizing POS data and strategic merchandising objectives. Will need to evaluate the customer path, operational requirements and fixture needs
Manage space planning software to account for category space allocation by establishing space by store and category, capturing space changes as floor plans change, evaluating requests for space changes from stores, and making changes in the software as changes occur
Develop precision planogram drawings of merchandising categories by utilizing strategic category objectives, analyzing item performance of existing items and projections of new items, establishing items to be deleted and added to the category, and evaluating space requirements
Develop precision drawings of store-specific merchandising floor plans by analyzing store-specific facilities specifications, establishing the space needs of the specific store, evaluating tradeoffs of compromises required from the established prototype and evaluating local customer needs
Constantly look for ways to innovate, improve, and lead the market in retail design
Create the design and look/feel of each seasonal set, acquire and distribute decorative elements to stores based on the displays they have
Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in business analysis, economics, marketing, replenishment analytics, or related field required
Minimum 4 years experience working in a similar position with proven retail space planning and category management experience and at least 5 years in retail design in an environment focused on core news, convenience, and gift shop product categories with a preference in airport and/or hospitality environments
Preffered experience in the candy, snacks and beverage categories is required; travel airport retail category
Proven project management experience and aptitude to progressively learn how to develop and implement effective merchandising plans and working with retail back-office and inventory systems (e.g., Crunchtime, Micros, Simphony)
Experience with syndicated data, Power BI, or retail POS systems/e-commerce systems with planograms
Strong business acumen with desire to deliver positive KPI results, driving sales and profitability
