POSITION SUMMARY
Working under the supervision of the Controller, the Business Office & Operations Intern (Intern) will assist the Accounts Payable Specialist, Accounts Receivable Specialist, and the General Ledger Accountant with the day-to-day operations of the Business Office. In addition, the Intern will support the Operations Department with day-to-day operations of the school. creating journal entries and assembling supporting documentation, as well as for tracking the contents of accounts. The Intern will assist in all month-end, quarter-end and year-end account closing activities and reconciliations; including assisting in creating the financial statements and the review of monthly financial reports to identify and explain variances.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, the Intern will support the Business Office with the following (but not limited to) responsibilities:
Reconciliation of bank statements.
Reconciliation of credit cards.
Assist the General Ledger Accountant with processing and posting journal entries.
Assist the General Ledger Accountant with reviewing general ledger expense accounts.
Assist the Accounts Payable Specialist with processing weekly check runs.
Assist Account Receivable Specialist with the Summer Program duties.
Assist with accounting projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, experience and skill requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
High School graduate
Some College education with an emphasis in accounting, finance or business preferred.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen.
Superb time-management and organizational skills.
Strong Excel and database skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Team player and have ability to work independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation - $20 hourly
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Required to lift and carry up to a maximum of 25 lbs., in a correct manner consistent with the appropriate training provided by the school.
Occasionally required to use hand to feel objects, touch and use tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, twist, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, grasp, talk, hear, and walk during the course of employment.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and an ability to adjust focus.
May use telephone, computer, copier, and other office equipment in the course of a day.
Required to sit while operating word processing equipment for approximately 6-8 hours daily, repetitive motion for typing and other keystroke needs.
