OneLegacy, the non-profit organ and tissue recovery organization serving the seven counties of the greater Los Angeles area, has an immediate opening for a Full Time Senior Accountant in the Azusa office.
Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, managing sub ledgers, performing month end close functions, analytics, producing financial reports and assisting in the cash collection and disbursement processes for OneLegacy and OneLegacy Foundation. Also responsible for maintaining and controlling the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of OneLegacy and OneLegacy Foundation in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
The Senior Accountant shall be a subject matter expert in the use of accounting systems and have expertise in the use of Excel spreadsheets in accounting applications. The Senior Accountant shall participate on committees and be responsible for preparation and revision of accounting procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
1. Obtains and maintains a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
2. Assists with the day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations of the Finance & Accounting Department.
3. Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes.
4. Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
5. Reviews expense coding to ensure consistent allocation and compliance with CMS guidelines.
6. Performs general account analysis and reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, fixed assets, accruals, prepaid expenses, etc.
7. Performs monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation, and recording of adjusting, reclassification and investment journal entries.
8. Assists in the annual audit process, budget process, Medicare Cost Report, and other audits as needed.
9. Assists in annual IRS Form 990 filing and other statutory filings.
10. Maintenance and custodial care of items like permits and licenses.
11. Provides accounting support to Accounting and Finance Manager and assists in the preparation of monthly financial reports and analyses.
12. Assists in conducting ad-hoc analyses and performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Environment/Working Conditions:
Location: Corporate Office.
Travel: Occasionally required to travel by personal auto or air to meeting sites and other locations.
Work Hours: Exempt employees shall be paid an established salary on a bi-weekly basis and are expected to fulfill the duties of their position regardless of hours worked. The workweek for full-time exempt is normally considered to be 40 hours; however, greater emphasis is place on meeting the responsibilities assigned to the position than on working a specific number of hours. Exempt employees are not eligible to receive overtime compensation. Must be available evenings, holidays and weekends as required.
Job Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Experience:
1. Minimum of 5 or more years of progressively responsible accounting experience is required, with a proven track record in accounting and financial analysis. Public accounting experience and healthcare industry experience is preferred.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and also demonstrated knowledge of statutory accounting and related filings, are required.
3. Familiarity with automated accounting software systems is essential.
4. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, and an outstanding customer service orientation, are highly desired.
Certification/License: Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred but not required.
