Boeing Commercial Aircraft (BCA) – Structures Stress Team, located in sunny Southern California, is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer – Experienced or Expert, with knowledge of stress analysis methods, engineering principles, and coordination skills.

This position is for primary and secondary structures stress for Product Development, airplane production, and airplane post-production modifications.

Position Responsibilities:
- Performing detailed structural analysis to determine structural integrity (margins of safety), using classical techniques and Boeing tools. This analysis can support production, responses to customer inquiries, service bulletin development, failure investigation, regulatory agency coordination and show compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Providing guidance on structural design and configuration development.
- Create trade studies to optimize the structure and meet program requirements.
- Work with the team to integrate component-level structural models and perform integrated analysis, using finite element methods, to develop internal loads and stresses in order to verify structural integrity with some/minimal instruction.
- Document structural analyses and data required to show compliance with Boeing, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the resolution of technical, operational, and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer (internal and external).
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite in Long Beach, CA.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in one of the following engineering majors: Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Civil, with an emphasis in structures related course material.
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience or related work experience and/or combination of additional education and relevant experience with stress analysis.
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in Finite Element Analysis experience including the use of stress analysis tools such as, NASTRAN/PATRAN, HYPERMESH, ABAQUS, or any other stress analysis tools.
- Experience with Hand (classical) and/or Computational Calculations
- Ability to support occasional domestic travel to support our customers
- Ability to work on-site 5 days per week
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Level 3: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Level 4: 7 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Experience in metallic and/or composite static analysis
- Experience coordinating with internal customers, adjacent teams, and/or stakeholders
- Experience with testing (vibe, strain gauge, proof pressure, etc.)
- 1+ years of experience with Fatigue and Durability/Damage Tolerance Analysis
Typical Education/Experience:
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor).
Experienced (Level 3):
Typically, 5 years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years related work experience).
Expert (Level 4):
Typically, 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience).
