Position Summary:
The incumbent oversees staff and all aspects related to of the clinical trial financial life cycle including, but not limited to, budget review, invoicing, billing and charge review, accounts receivable management, as well as alignment of pre and post award processes. Incumbent regularly interacts with all levels of management and staff as an expert to provide education and training on necessary documentation, interpretation, and system applications, reporting capabilities, and modifications to workflow. Incumbent is also primarily responsible for reviewing and completing requests from Research/Study Teams for Coverage Analysis, Cursory Document Alignment and RRI sign-off in both Oncore and Epic EMR systems. Incumbent is also responsible for ensuring Research Compliance of all current and new studies, performing monthly & quarterly audits as received from UCI's Research Compliance team. Incumbent will also act as an adviser to management and staff exercising judgment within policies and procedures to ensure appropriate actions are taken.

Salary Range:
Annual Rate Minimum $90,500.00 Midpoint $130,100.00 Maximum $169,700.00
Required Qualifications:
Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Minimum 4 to 5 years experience in Clinical Trial Billing for both hospital & professional environments
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Ability to prioritize work independently, troubleshoot and resolve problems as they occur and to set and re-set priorities appropriately
Resourcefulness to identify and search for information that is not readily available
CPC-H or CPC coding certification
Working knowledge of applicable clinical trial regulatory guidelines; Federal NCD, State Statute, Industry contracts; budgets, and clinical trial agreements
Expert knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, diagnosis codes and revenue codes
Demonstrated knowledge and application of billing, compliance, reimbursement and coding across multiple settings including provider-based facility and physician practice.
Ability to analyze situations, define problems, research and formulate conclusions and make sound decisions
Demonstrated ability to manage data with a high degree of accuracy and with key performance metrics to optimize quality assurance.
Demonstrated ability to set priorities, be highly organized and able to multi-task
Demonstrated experience using a clinical trial management system (Oncore, Epic, etc.)
Demonstrate work experience referencing hospital charge description master to accurately assess charges
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum 4 years of prior experience in hospital finance setting required OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to set and manage priorities for self and others
Knowledge of University and medical center organizational structure, policies, procedures, and forms
EPIC Research Billing certification
Experience using Oncore Clinical Trial Management system
Prior supervisory experience
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Good organizational skills
