Job Abstract

Overview:

This position will provide technical guidance for daily plant production processes and serve as a technical expert on the production team. This individual will report to the Technical and Quality Manager and will support the production team in achieving key metrics for safety, housekeeping, quality, and productivity. They will be responsible for driving continuous improvement in these areas. They will need to be able to readily identify opportunities, prioritize, and take action to improve asset utilization and production efficiency. They will provide technical support for production capital and improvement projects as well as lead other applicable projects in other areas as needed. They will work closely with both hourly and salary team members in all functions at the plant to implement critical improvements. They will also act as a point of contact for product scale up efforts on an as needed basis.

Job Responsibilities:

· Provides technical guidance of daily plant production processes

· Serves as a technical expert on the production team

· Actively engages with operators and supervisors to ensure safe, efficient, production activities

· Identifies production related safety, quality, and process improvement opportunities, prioritizing, as needed and implementing effective long term corrective actions.

· Drives continuous improvement and change to deliver production results

· Supports and participates in plant safety activities and training, specifically driving production related safety improvements.

· Provides troubleshooting support for production related issues and alarms working directly with the production team to identify the causes and implement effective solutions.

· Participates in the administration of the Management of Change or (MOC) program which includes, but is not limited to, change approvals, start-up approvals, development of operating procedures, hazard evaluation, training of personnel on changes, and updating of Process Safety Information

· Develops and maintain production related procedures, training materials, and documentation to facilitate consistent and safe manufacturing practices meeting all requirements of Process Safety Management.

· Acts as the technical expert for all production related activities.

· Owns and manages production related improvement and capital projects, delivering projects on time and on budget

· Owns and manages other improvement and capital projects as needed

· Supports Responsible Care and ISO activities

· Acts as point of contact and process expert for product scale ups and changes on an as needed basis

Qualifications:

· Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering

· 3-5 years of experience in chemical process manufacturing

· Advanced problem solving and facilitation skills – ability to critically thing and make things happen

· Previous experience driving production related improvements

· Proven ability to initiate and drive change

· Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

· Must be able to flex shift

· Function effectively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

· Electrical/Instrumentation experience

· Experience working with DCS systems

· Experience working PSM covered facility

· Incident Commander/Emergency Response Team Certification

Working Requirements:

· Full Time, Mon-Friday

· Must be able to come in on the off shifts as needed

· This is a salary exempt position with on call responsibilities.
