Classification Title: Administrative Support Coordinator I
Classification Salary Range: $3,680 - $5,783 per month
The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
About the Department/Position:
Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean and in collaboration with the School of Public Health and Health Sciences Chair the incumbent independently performs a wide variety of moderate to complex administrative tasks involving the use of judgment and discretion. The incumbent serves as the Coordinator to the chair, faculty, and students of the program, activities, and events of the departments. The primary duties and responsibilities include coordinating the activities of and providing administrative and clerical support to the departments.
Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
- First point of contact for students and faculty: e.g., responding to student inquiries, request for services, and complaints via phone, email or in person, follow through on the resolution of the problem, and directing them as appropriate for further assistance
- Coordinate program/department-related meetings by scheduling, reviewing agenda, and following-up on action items that arise from the meetings
- Compose & prepare memos, letters, notices, directives and bulletins as requested
- Maintain office supplies inventory, get pricing on new material and coordinate with the Dean's Office for ordering supplies
- Assist faculty with administrative functions
Minimum Qualifications:
- A high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience, typically three years.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Thorough knowledge of office systems and ability to use a broader range of technology, systems, and packages.
- Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects.
- Ability to apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist.
- Ability to effectively handle a broader range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate with a diverse student population.
