The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Materials & Processes Manager to support the Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) team located in El Segundo, CA.
The El Segundo site designs and builds advanced space and communication systems for military, commercial, and scientific uses, including advanced digital payload, all electric propulsion and 3D manufacturing capabilities for spacecraft that can operate in the geosynchronous, medium-Earth orbit of low Earth orbital planes.
The Materials and Process Group in El Segundo develops, provides, and maintains technical competency and integrity in the definition, evaluation, analysis, management, selection and control of materials, processes, and parts. In this role, you will be leading a team of about 20 engineers performing engineering and laboratory activities in the areas of Materials, Processes and Physics in support of the design and manufacture of advanced space and communications systems. Typical activities include material characterization, research and development, qualification, design/production support and anomaly resolution.
The ideal candidate for this role will possess a strong background in the Materials and Processes engineering with demonstrated project management and leadership skills. They should have experience working in a laboratory environment with knowledge of common material characterization techniques and test methods. In addition, they should have experience working cross-functionally across multiple organizations to achieve a common goal.

Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
Manages, develops and motivates employees
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work in-office at the El Segundo, CA site.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
3+ years of experience leading teams in a formal and /or informal leadership role
Experience collaborating across multi-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience managing laboratory operations
Experience with materials and process (M&P) engineering
Experience with design and production of advanced satellite systems
Project management experience
Experience with parts, materials, and process control requirements for government and commercial customers
Experience with root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities
Experience with space qualification activities
Experience working in a laboratory environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience with material and process specifications and standards
Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance
Experience with M&P review of engineering and change documentation
