MITRE is currently seeking an Accounting Associate for our offices in McLean, VA. This role requires knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles as well as strong communication skills. Individuals seeking a challenging, multi-faceted position in a fast-paced work environment will enjoy the diverse responsibilities of this position.

Job Description:

• Set-up and maintain Direct, Indirect and IWO (Intercompany Work Order) Projects in Deltek Costpoint

• Provide end-to-end project lifecycle support

• Participate in the monthly close activities

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis for review

• Prepare journal entries (including accruals, amortization of prepaid and precontract costs, etc.)

• Perform ad-hoc analysis and special projects as required

Basic Qualifications:

• Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a related Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

• Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Excel and other related Microsoft office products

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment

• Strong problem-solving, research, and analytical skills to resolve inquiries

• Desire to learn, adapt and improve processes in a fast-changing environment

• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting practices and principles

Preferred Qualifications:

• Government contracting experience and knowledge or FAR/CAS

• Experience using Deltek Costpoint

• Experience understanding and researching accounting standards
