Pay: $57300 - $83100 / year (hourly position)

Schedule: Su - W; 8a - 6:30p PST

Location: Remote, must be in Pacific or Mountain time zone

We are seeking an experienced Building Management Systems Engineer and Controls Technician to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of building management systems (BMS) and associated control systems across our portfolio of properties. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a comprehensive understanding of BMS and controls.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain building management systems (BMS) and control systems to ensure optimal functionality and performance.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of BMS and control equipment to identify and address potential issues or malfunctions.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in BMS and control systems, utilizing appropriate testing and diagnostic tools.
• Collaborate with maintenance staff and contractors to ensure proper installation, repair, and calibration of BMS and control systems.
• Create and maintain documentation, including system manuals, technical specifications, and operating procedures.
• Analyze energy usage and propose strategies to optimize energy efficiency by implementing control system adjustments and upgrades.
• Stay updated on the latest industry trends and technologies related to BMS and controls, and recommend improvements and enhancements to existing systems.
• Monitor, evaluate, and document system performance through data analysis, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary corrective actions.
• Provide technical support and training to building management and operations teams to ensure efficient operation of BMS and control systems.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in building management systems and controls, preferably in a commercial real estate setting.
• Strong knowledge of BMS hardware, software, and protocols, such as Automated Logic Controls, BACnet, Modbus, and Niagara.
• Proficient in programming and troubleshooting control systems, including HVAC, lighting, security, and access control systems.
• Experience with energy management systems and strategies for optimizing energy efficiency.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional certifications related to building management systems, controls, or energy management (e.g., Certified Energy Manager, Certified Controls Professional).
• Familiarity with Smart Building technologies, IoT, and data analytics.
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations, including ASHRAE, NFPA, and local building codes.
• Experience with remote monitoring and management of BMS and control systems.
• Project management experience, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
