The USC Keck School of Medicine is seeking to hire a full-time Histology Technician II who will be responsible for performing technical procedures and tasks supporting the day-to-day operations of the Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Laboratory within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. In addition, the incumbent will provide technical expertise to ensure proper functioning of these divisions for optimal quality, efficiency, productivity and turn-around-times.
Specific Job-Related Duties:
- Performs high complexity testing and advanced histopathology procedures and staining techniques by accurately identifying the proper control tissues and antibodies to be used.
- Offers expertise in all areas of the Immunohistochemistry Laboratory to include, and not limited to: H&E, special stains, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Electron microscopy (EM), immunofluorescent (IF), and CISH staining.
- Ensures that all required solutions and chemicals are properly prepared, and that automated laboratory equipment is in working order.
- Serves as the resource for coordination of research projects, test validation, and clinical test implementation activities in the department.
- Develops new Immunohistochemistry (IHC) antibody protocols.
- Responsible for Quality Metrics to improve the value of patient care.
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal regulatory agencies.
The Keck School of Medicine Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is one of the largest pathology departments in the United States. The Department aims to shape the future of pathology as it will be practiced in community hospitals, academic medical centers, and clinical laboratories throughout the country. Hourly range:
The hourly rate range for this position is $35.95 - $48.99. Minimum Education:
Related undergraduate study
Minimum Certifications:
Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification required from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
Minimum Experience:
3 years
Additional Experience Requirements:
Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum work experience
Preferred Education:
Bachelor's degree
Preferred Certifications:
ASCP issued Immunohistochemistry (QHIC) certification
Preferred Experience:
5 years
