The University of Southern California Maternal Child Adolescent Center is seeking to hire a full-time Licensed Vocation Nurse. The successful candidate will become part of the research team for a study focused on HIV positive patients and other infectious diseases. The study population will consist of a primarily Spanish-speaking patient population at the LAC+USC Medical Center.
As an integral part of the research team, they must be Fluent in Spanish as the candidate will work with a large majority of Spanish speaking patients. Important qualifications include excellent communication and people skills, organizational and problem-solving abilities, and a demonstrated ability to work independently while working multiple tasks and deadlines. They will assist with all aspects of enrollment of research participants with HIV and other infectious diseases into research studies. The candidate will assist with screening, scheduling, and interviewing potential participants, obtaining informed consent, and facilitating all stages of participant enrollment and follow up. They will work with the team in providing a culturally sensitive approach to participant engagement and research consent, and with the support of the research team. A strong commitment to ethics, confidentiality, compliance procedures and policies. Other important qualifications include computer skills, attention to detail, ability to work in a clinic environment, and phlebotomy license is required. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education:
• Related undergraduate study/specialized/technical training required
Minimum Experience/Knowledge:
• Minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience is required
• Experience in both inpatient and outpatient areas is required
• Experience with high volume, high-risk patients preferred
• Experience in research and clinical trial projects is required
Requirements:
-Fluent in Spanish required.
-Valid California LVN license (current license upon hire or within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date).
-BLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
-ACLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
-Phlebotomy license required (current license upon hire or within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date).
Percentage of Time: 100% full time position
The hourly rate range for this position is $27.91 - $27.91. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
Minimum Education: High school or equivalent, Specialized/technical training
Minimum Experience: 1 year
Minimum Field of Expertise: Graduation from an accredited vocational nursing program or equivalent. Current California Licenced Vocational Nurse status required. Must have passed the NCLEX-PN licensing examination. Demonstrated intrapersonal skills and knowledge of patient care and/or needs. Must have keen observational, decision-making, and communication skills. Ability to follow orders and work under close supervision.
