Job Description
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the daily activity of a support or production team for a specific business or product, and typically oversees a staff of fewer than ten FTEs. S/He sets priorities for the team to ensure essential tasks are completed on time and in accordance with established policies and procedures. S/He works with her/his manager and other supervisors to maintain an effective end-to-end business process and provide a reliable flow of information to both management and assigned production staff. An Operations Supervisor has an active role in hiring, training, scheduling and, if needed, corrective action for assigned employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly oversees the work of assigned, non-exempt staff to ensure work is produced and/or delivered in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner consistent with established departmental policies and procedures; monitors performance of individual staff members and evaluates that performance against management-approved objectives.
Creates and maintains a positive and professional work environment for assigned staff, including the provision of training and feedback necessary for subordinates to assume additional responsibility.
Assists in the testing and implementation of system and procedural changes; ensures that changes are communicated to production staff and necessary training is completed.
Maintains a schedule intended to match capacity to expected volume; adjusts staffing as needed by changing employee start/stop times, authorizing overtime, temporarily assigning employees to other functions, etc., taking into consideration the limits associated with having a smaller number of staff to schedule.
Completes required HR duties, including monitoring time and attendance records, completing performance reviews, recommending promotion and salary changes in accordance with Bank policy, and providing input for management’s use in documenting staff additions, terminations, and/or replacements.
Regularly performs production tasks to handle higher than expected workloads, employee absences, system-related issues, etc.
Monitors daily activities for risks and/or compliance issues; alerts manager to potential problems as they are identified.
Qualifications
Minimum of two or more years of banking experience with an emphasis in Operations
Familiarity with HR policies and procedures, particularly those related to time and attendance and performance management.
Familiarity with Operations policies and procedures or a demonstrated ability to understand and comply with policies and procedures based on experience in a comparable area (e.g., insurance, brokerage, mortgage, etc.).
Demonstrated potential for supervision as evidenced by success in leading and motivating others inside or outside a banking environment.
Ability to effectively interact with production staff and Operations management using both written and verbal communication.
Ability to identify issues and recommend solutions within assigned area of responsibility.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel) is required.
