Position Overview:

St. Cyril School is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team as the Spanish Teacher. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in teaching a wide range of age groups preschool-8th grade, as well as fostering a love for the Spanish language and culture while integrating Catholic values into the curriculum.

Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development: Design and implement a dynamic and engaging Spanish language curriculum that aligns with national standards and integrates Catholic values and teachings.

Classroom Instruction: Deliver high-quality instruction for students preschool-8th grade, that caters to diverse learning styles and fosters student proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish.

Cultural Exploration: Expose students to the richness and diversity of Spanish-speaking cultures through authentic materials, literature, music, and other resources.

Spiritual Integration: Infuse Catholic values and themes into Spanish language lessons, encouraging students to reflect on the connections between language learning and their faith journey.

Assessment and Feedback: Assess student progress regularly through a variety of formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to support growth and improvement.

Differentiated Instruction: Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, and students with varying academic abilities.

Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues to integrate Spanish language and culture into interdisciplinary units and school-wide events, fostering a supportive and cohesive learning community.

Parent Communication: Maintain open and proactive communication with parents regarding student progress, assignments, and classroom activities, seeking their support and involvement in their child’s learning journey.

Physical Demands: Provide active supervision, ensuring student safety and enforcing rules and procedures to prevent accidents or injuries. When performing activities throughout the day, the teacher spends the majority of the day standing in the classroom or walking around campus. Dealing with the students can entail kneeling or squatting, lifting, stooping, and bending. The teacher must see and hear on a continuous basis as well as speak frequently. On a rare occasion it may be necessary to move quickly, run, etc. over smooth to uneven surfaces such as on asphalt, gravel, on the playground, or on the grass. The work environment will vary from potentially very loud situations such as cafeterias and playgrounds to more moderate situations such as classrooms or large group professional settings. Adaptability to all weather conditions related to outdoor activities and/or travel is necessary. The employee must be able to work in air- conditioned and heated environments under fluorescent lighting.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, education, liberal studies, or a related field .
Teaching certification and/or licensure in Spanish language prefered(or eligibility for certification/licensure).
Proficiency in Spanish language (native or near-native proficiency preferred).
Experience teaching Spanish at the preschool, elementary and middle school level, preferably in a Catholic or faith-based environment.
Passion for language teaching and cultural exchange, with a commitment to fostering global awareness and understanding.
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Knowledge of effective instructional strategies, technology integration, and assessment practices in world languages instruction.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
